Man arrested in connection to deadly double shooting in Providence

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — A man was taken into custody in Warwick on Thursday morning in connection to the deadly double shooting of a couple in Providence.

Maj. David Lapatin said Miguel Perez, 29, was arrested after a police raid at a home on Post Road.

His arrest was related to a double homicide in Providence two weeks ago.

Providence police were called to Hathaway Street just after midnight on Saturday, Oct. 28 for a reported shooting.

Police said a Pawtucket couple, a 29-year-old man and 30-year-old woman, were fatally shot inside a parked car.

“Someone in the neighborhood said they heard shots fired and a car speeding away Cranston arrived first, they discovered a car with two bodies inside,” Lapatin said in a press conference.

The department said the couple was targeted.

They were parents to four children, two of which they had together.
