New Bedford man arrested for illegal firearm

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The New Bedford Police Department said that it arrested a man for possessing an illegal firearm on Nov. 9.

21-year-old Curtis Monteiro was charged with carrying a loaded, large-capacity firearm with an obliterated serial number without a license.

Police arrested Monteiro near the area of Chestnut Street and Robeson Street around 4 p.m. after receiving reports of a male possessing a firearm.

He was allegedly in possession of a Taurus G2C 9mm handgun that he did not have a license for.
