Patrick Dempsey surprises hometown in support of Love Lewiston Day

LEWISTON, Maine. (WLNE) — Patrick Dempsey visited his Maine hometown this weekend to show his support for “Love Lewiston Day” — a tribute to the victims of the worst mass killing state history.

People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive showed love for his hometown community, including participating in a charity softball game and visiting with children at non-profit organization Tree Street Youth.

Lewiston Mayor Carl Sheline officially declared Nov. 3 as Love Lewiston Day, in line with the non-profit’s idea for a day to dedicate to remembrance and healing.

The non-profit community tied over 6,000 ribbons across town to show support for the victims, their friends and families, and all those touched by the tragedy.

Dempsey said he heard about the initiative for Love Lewiston Day all the way in California.

The non-profit said his visit is a memory the children will never forget.
