SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — A 14-year-old girl will return to school on Friday after she was run over by a tractor while working at a popular haunted hayride in Smithfield.

Smithfield High School will provide a warm welcome celebration for Giada Lanzieri, who was seriously hurt in the incident just before Halloween.

She was working as a scare actor at Seven Cedars Farm on John Mowry Road.

The farm closed its annual haunted hayride for the rest of the season following the incident.

The Lanzieri family has since hired a lawyer.

The Smithfield community rallied around Lanzieri throughout her recovery, including Father Richard Valentine of St. Michael’s Church, offering prayers and support.
