Fruits recalled over possible listeria contamination, RIDOH says

The Rhode Island Department of Health shared these photos of the fruit that are being recalled for a potential listeria outbreak.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Health announced HMC Farms is recalling plums, peaches and nectarines over potential listeria contamination.

According to the department of health, the fruits were sold in retail stores between May 1 and November 15, of this year.

Officials say the recalled fruits were distributed nationwide and sold at retail stores and have been linked to an outbreak of Listeriosis that have resulted in 11 illnesses.

Although the fruit is no longer available in stores, health officials said consumers may have frozen the recalled fruit at home for later use.

Consumers are being urged to check their freezers for the recalled fruit and discard it.
