Cumberland police seeking motorcyclist who allegedly struck officer

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WLNE) — The Cumberland Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a motorcyclist after they allegedly struck one of their officers.

According to the department, on October 28, at approximately 7:45 p.m., a man on a motorcycle was operating recklessly at a high rate of speed and struck an officer who was directing traffic at the Diamond Hill Road rotary.

Officials said the officer was not seriously injured but the motorcyclist fled northbound on 295 north.

Images from the officers body-worn camera shows a man wearing a top with a red torso and white sleeves, as well as a black and white open-faced helmet.
