Small Business Saturday brings local vendors to Warwick

WARWICK R.I. (WLNE) — Small businesses and other local vendors gathered in Warwick for a Small Business Saturday.
The event was started back in 2010 as a way to get shoppers to buy local for Black Friday and help local businesses attract attention to their brands.
Saturdays event was hosted at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and featured vendors selling art, unique decorations and cookware from around the Ocean State.
According to Small Business Saturday’s website, small business make up 98% of registered businesses in Rhode Island and provide jobs to 57% of all people who are employed in the state.
Dawn Santos, a vendor who sells custom gnomes through her business ‘Wherever I May Gnome,’ said the event is a great opportunity for small businesses to showcase their goods.
Santos also said she was shocked at the number of sales she made from the day.
