Narragansett man arrested for DUI after crash with 3 passengers

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — The South Kingstown Police Department released details about the arrest of a Narragansett man who crashed his car with three passengers inside after allegedly driving drunk Saturday night.

According to police, 29-year-old Joseph Lennon-Tierney was allegedly driving under the influence and crashed his car into a tree on Pond Street.

On Saturday at around 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a single car crash where they learned the car, driven by Tierney left the road a struck a tree head-on.

There were also three passengers in the car, one of which was taken to the hospital by ambulance for complaints of pain.

During an interview, police say Tierney admitted to drinking alcohol before driving. Officers also observed his eyes were bloodshot and watery and smelled alcohol on his breath.

After a field sobriety test, Tierney was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Tierney will return to court in December.
