PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence will hold a special holiday WaterFire lighting on Saturday night.

The festive celebration will be part of the city’s “Three Nights of Lights” festival.

“WaterFire showcases the cultural diversity in our great state while also contributing to the overall economic health of our local community,” said Rhode Island Commerce Secretary Liz Tanner. “Rhode Island Commerce is proud to support this special WaterFire lighting, especially during a time of the year when so many of our small businesses and vendors rely on these events to attract visitors and shoppers.”

Santa Claus will make a grand appearance. The big man in red will be available for photos in Santa’s Village on the stage in Waterplace Park.

Holiday characters like The Nutcracker and The Mouse King will also be in attendance.

Waterplace Park will be circled with Christmas trees from Stanley Tree Service, Inc.

A 20-foot Christmas tree will be proudly displayed front and center on the stage.

The partial lighting will begin at 5:30 p.m. and burn until 9 p.m.

Food vendors will serve the public starting at 5:30 p.m.

“Three Nights of Lights” begins Friday, and has events throughout the weekend.
