Massachusetts State Police investigating deadly single-car crash in Haverhill

HAVERHILL, Mass. (WLNE) — Massachusetts State Police are investigating after a 62-year-old man was killed in a single-car crash on Friday.

According to state police, the crash happened on Interstate 495 in Haverhill. At approximately 2:54 p.m., a 2017 Honda CR-V, for reasons still under investigation, exited the roadway and entered the grass median.

In the median, police said the CR-V struck a guard rail, causing it to roll over onto its roof.

The driver and sole occupant of the CR-V, David Ziembko, 62, was pulled from the car by first responders who attempted emergency life-saving measures.

Ziembko was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The facts and circumstances of the crash, including whether the victim may have suffered a medical event prior to leaving the road are still under investigation.
