Car bursts into flames after being impaled by guard rail in East Greenwich

EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WLNE) — East Greenwich firefighters responded after a car was impaled by a guard rail and caught fire early Monday morning.

According to the East Greenwich Firefighters Association, at approximately 1:21 a.m., crews were dispatched to the area of the Middle Road overpass for a car on fire.

When crews arrived on the scene, they said they found a small sedan fully engulfed in flames and impaled by a guard rail.

Officials said no injuries were reported to occupants of the vehicle or firefighters.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire and cut the car from the guard rail with the jaws of life.
