Man shot in Pawtucket declines to press charges

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — A 22-year-old man who was shot in Pawtucket declined to press charges, police said Tuesday.

Police responded to the area of the School Street off ramp around 8 p.m. Monday after a man arrived at Miriam Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

A witness told police they thought they heard gun shots near Interstate 95. Police found two cartridge cases in the road.

Detectives spoke with the victim, who said he was a passenger in a car and was looking at his phone when he heard a loud bang.

He said the right side of his head was bleeding, and he was dropped off at the hospital.

The man told detectives he did not have any more information, and said he did not want to press charges.

Police said there is no threat to the community.
