Shots fired incident in Seekonk, Saturday

SEEKONK, M.A. (WLNE) – On Saturday, Seekonk Police received a 911 call reporting a shots fired incident in the vicinity of Pine Street and Woodland Avenue.

The caller was able to describe a possible suspect and description of a fleeing vehicle.

Police were unable to locate a vehicle in the area upon arrival.

With the assistance of the Rehoboth Police Department, the vehicle and its operator were located on Taunton Avenue (Rt. 44), a short while afterward.

Matthew O’Brien, 28 of Rehoboth was then taken into custody.

Investigators say they have evidence that this was not a random act. No one was injured, though a projectile struck an unoccupied vehicle on Pine Street.

The Seekonk Police Detective Division is still investigating this incident.
