Sunday Night Storm

Cloudy skies take us into Sunday with much warmer than average temperatures. After some patches of morning fog, Sunday will be cloudy and dry until dark. Sunday will also be increasingly breezy as well with winds building to 25 mph from the south. All eyes are on a multi-faceted storm for Sunday night into Monday morning, and rightfully so. We are expecting maximum winds with gusts 50-60 mph Sunday overnight in addition to 1-3″ of rain. There will also be coastal concerns with minor coastal flooding less than a foot deep and coastal wave heights of 7-12 feet. The worst of the storm is around 4 am Monday. Power outages are expected as well as felled trees, loose holiday decorations will blow away in the winds if not secured, extensive ponding and poor drainage flooding is possible as well. Things you can do to prepare include charging batteries, clean leaves from drains, secure holiday decorations and test sump pumps for those who have wet basements. Yes, basement flooding is possible as well. Monday morning we will see the storm pull away and we should increase the sunshine and winds will relax through the afternoon. The remainder of the week looks bright and dry with cooler and more seasonable highs in the 40s.
