Third resident at Rhode Island Veterans Home dies from COVID-19

BRISTOL, RI (WLNE) – A third resident at the Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol has died from COVID-19.
A spokesman for the home says the resident was in his 70s with underlying health conditions and died Thursday. He was one of the first at the Veterans Home to test positive for COVID-19 back on April 24.
On Thursday, the Rhode Island Veterans Home reported its first two COVID-19 deaths amongst its residents.
The home currently has 14 residents who have tested positive for COVID-19. All but one of those residents are not showing symptoms of the virus, according to the spokesman.
There have been around 28 staff members who have tested positive for COVID-19. About one-third of them have since returned to work or are about to return, according to the spokesman.
