Improvement on the horizon, keeping an eye on the rivers

Heavy downpours will exit the region by mid morning. Strong gusty winds will persist throughout the day. Mayor improvement is on the way, we could even enjoy a beautiful sunset this afternoon at 4:15 pm. Meanwhile, this system prompted numerous impact across the entire region.

Thousands were left without power, ponding roads, splash over along the Narraganset seawall during high tide. We now keep an eye on the rivers. The Pawtuxet is forecast to enter moderate stage flooding by this evening.

This system has left us with an impressive dose of rain totals:  Coventry 4.79″, Greenville 3.40″,  Cumberland 3.19″, Scituate 2.75″, Burrillville 2.67″, and in Moosup, CT 5.00″ (Jackpot for Southern New England).   Conditions will be improving by noon. Dry conditions with gusty winds.

Cold air moves in tonight with temperatures dipping into the upper-20s.  More seasonable and sunny by the next couple of days. Turns colder on Thursday with milder air ushering in by the end of the week.
