COVENTRY, RI (WLNE) – Police say they arrested a woman after she allegedly set “several towels” on fire inside a Walmart on May 8.

According to Coventry Police, Logan Barboza, 22, of West Warwick, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with first-degree arson.

On May 8, Coventry Police and Fire Departments responded to the Walmart in Coventry for a reported fire inside the store just before 2 p.m.

Once they were on scene both police and firefighters say they began gathering information and opened an investigation due to the suspicious nature of the fire.

Detectives say they reviewed video surveillance provided by Walmart and later determined that this was an arson investigation. They later alerted the public that they were trying to identify the suspect.

Barboza was processed at Coventry Police Headquarters and subsequently released. She has a formal arraignment at 3rd District Court in Warwick at a later date.
