Authorities seek info on Norton mill fire

NORTON, Mass. (WLNE) Massachusetts officials are asking the public for help gathering more information on the mill fire that broke out on Barrows Street in Norton yesterday afternoon.
Anyone with information is asked to call the state’s Arson Hotline at 1-800-682-9229 or Norton Police Detectives at 508-285-3327.
“Someone knows whether the fire was intentionally set or accidentally set by people who were not authorized to be inside,” Norton Fire Department Chief Shawn Simmons said.
State fire marshal Peter Ostroskey said callers will remain confidential, though information leading to the cause of the fire could lead to a $5,000 reward.
Crews from ten different neighboring towns responded to the fire just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The bulk of the fire had been contained shortly after, but crews remained onsite overnight in case of flare-ups in hot spots, Deputy Fire Chief Benton Keene III said.
