Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority adds customer service hours

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority said that it will be opening additional customer service hours due to the closure of westbound lanes on the Washington Bridge.
“We are adding customer service hours and will be open from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Rhode Island E-Z Pass Customer Service Center on the next two Thursdays, Dec. 14 and 21 and on Tuesday, Dec. 19.,” RITBA said in a statement.
The organization added that tolls for RITBA bridges is 83 cents for drivers with transponders and $6 for those without one.
“The partial closure of the Washington Bridge in Providence has pushed a high volume of cars to the Newport Pell and Jamestown-Verrazzano bridges. Yesterday, traffic flowed freely for most of the day, but the westbound traffic at rush hour created significant delays for some drivers,” RITBA said.
The organization said that it expects to see additional traffic as the Washington Bridge closure continues to be dealt with, and added that it will continue its maintenance project on the west side of the Newport Pell Bridge, which also necessitates a lane closure.
