RIDOH recommends pregnant people in East Bay take ambulances
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Health recommends that pregnant people in the East Bay take ambulances when they are in labor to avoid traffic on Washington Bridge.
RIDOH said the emergency vehicles can travel westbound on the bridge, unlike personal vehicles.
The Washington Bridge is currently undergoing a closure due to unexpected issues with the bridge’s structural integrity.
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation said that two bypass lanes on the bridge are expected to open this weekend.
