Fall River officer injured in confrontation with ATV driver

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Fall River Police Department said an officer was injured while attempting to arrest two ATV drivers early Saturday afternoon.
Deputy Chief Barden Castro said that a officer attempted to stop two ATV drivers who were illegally driving on Highland Avenue.
The officer stopped one of the drivers and attempted to place them under arrest, but the driver resisted and knocked the officer to the ground.
Castro said the officer was transported by ambulance to the hospital with a “non-life threatening injury” and is expected to recover.
He added that the ATV drivers fled, and the department is conducting an active investigation to identify them.
