Federal regulators approve Partners, Care New England merger

Federal regulators approved the merger between Partners and Care New England Tuesday.

The two made the announcement of the proposed takeover last May.

They will next have to get approval from state regulators.

Care New England owns Women and Infants Hospital of Rhode Island and Kent Hospital.

Partners is owner of Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital.
