A RI winery doing what they can to get through pandemic
WEST GREENWICH, R.I. (WLNE) – A West Greenwich winery is doing what they can to manage staying afloat during the pandemic.
Originally a Christmas Tree Farm, Leyden’s Farm Vineyard and Winery began growing grapes for wine in 2011.
Since the pandemic began, indoor wine tastings and events have been on hold.
While they have plenty of outdoor space, the weather hasn’t cooperated enough until recently to attract visitors and most summer events will likely have to be canceled.
Jack Leyden, Owner of Leyden’s Farm Vineyard and Winery said, “Summer and fall are our busiest times. Of course, we’re hoping for in Phase 2 that we’ll be allowed to let people sit inside and have wine tastings inside, along with being able to sit outside and enjoying themselves.”
Leyden says before the pandemic, they didn’t ship much wine to online buyers. Now, they are exploring that option within the legal limits of their license.
