East Matunuk and Scarborough state beaches will reopen Monday for Memorial Day.

Parking will be free, but there will be a limited number of spaces. Concessions, beach pavilions, and restrooms will be closed. There will also be no lifeguards on duty.

“It will probably be a zoo tomorrow, so it’s the perfect day today,” Jim Reddington, a North Attleboro resident, said.

The owner of Casa Pizza Narragansett, a restaurant only a few blocks down from the beach, is hoping the crowds will help make up for lost business.

Santa Werner opened her restaurant back up this weekend after being closed for about 3 months.

“I’m hoping I have a big day tomorrow,” Werner said. “It’s either you do or die. That’s how I figure. I’m going to try, this month, next month, until the end of the summer. If it’s doesn’t pick up within the next two months, that’s it, I’m closing the door.”

Raimondo has said she hopes to reopen all beaches across the state during phase 2 of her reopening plan.
