Outside contractor to oversee Washington Bridge forensic analysis
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Administration announced Monday that an outside contractor will oversee forensic analysis of the Washington Bridge.
State officials said that contractor, who was not immediately named, will provide independent oversight and review of the analysis for the Rhode Island Department of Transportation.
Last week, RIDOT shared photos detailing the damage to critical pieces underneath the westbound lanes of the Washington Bridge.
Those photos showed gaps between the steel rods supporting the bridge and the pillars they should be attached to, which measured at more than an inch in diameter.
