Flooding, power outages force schools to close

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Schools across Southern New England experienced closures and delays Tuesday amid lingering power outages and localized flooding.

Street flooding is disrupting transportation in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts, forcing closures — some for a second day in a row.

Cumberland Public Schools and Blackstone Valley Prep were closed due to a flooded bus yard.

Scituate Public Schools and Pawtucket Public Schools were closed due to power outages.

Leo A. Savoie School in Woonsocket was closed due to a power outage caused by a downed tree.

The Chariho Regional School District had a two hour delay.

Tollgate High School in Warwick switched to virtual learning after students were sent home early Monday after the wind caused an issue with the roof.

In Massachusetts, Plainville Public Schools and Norfolk Public Schools were closed.
