Rhodes on the Pawtuxet reports no significant issues from river flooding

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhodes on the Pawtuxet said river flooding from the storm earlier this week did not cause any significant issues.

General Manager Hillary Williamson said although the parking lot is full of stagnant water, the flooding inside has been minimal.

“Fortunately, the flooding has been confined to the lower parking lot and the unfinished basement areas, and has not affected the banquet spaces at all,” Williamson said.

She said many clients and local businesses have reached out, and she thanked them for offering to lend a hand.

Other than clearing the existing floodwater, Williamson said it’s business as usual.

Local rivers flooded Tuesday, a day after the region was slammed with excess rainfall and harsh winds.

The Pawtuxet River crested at nearly 15 feet, causing flooding at Rhodes and surrounding areas in Cranston and Warwick.

Residents of the Riverview Terrace apartment building were rescued on a raft as flood water rose so high that it partly submerged cars.

Cranston officials said most of the rescues happened Monday night, with people evacuating their homes and turning to local shelters.

Warwick Mayor Frank Picozzi said the city’s flooding was mostly in commercial areas.

He said there was flooding in the parking lot at Greenwich Village Apartments and the Apponaug Brewery.

Residents with storm debris were advised to put it on the side of the road for the Department of Public Works to clear away.
