7 displaced after 2 separate house fires on the same street in Warwick

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Seven people are displaced after two separate house fires broke out on the same street in Warwick on Wednesday.

According to Warwick’s Battalion Chief, Marc Savaria, firefighters got a call for a structure fire at 111 Bakers Creek Road but on their way, they noticed a second fire further down the road at 64 Bakers Creek Rd.

Officials said one fire began in the basement of the home and another broke out in the attic of the other. The cause of both remain under investigation by fire prevention officials.

Battalion Chief Savaria said while it was confusing at first, crews were able to put out both fires in a short period of time.

No residents or firefighters were injured in either fire but Savaria said he’s never seen anything like this in his career.

“I’ve been in the fire service for 25 years — I’ve never seen two fires on the same street at the same exact time that are unrelated or seem to be unrelated at this time,” Battalion Chief Savaria said.

Savaria further explained that firefighters often deal with confusion during responses so they were able to adapt and safely clear the scene.
