Driver in Norton crash cited with vehicular homicide

NORTON, Mass. (WLNE) — According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, a 59-year-old Attleboro man who caused a fatal one-car crash in Norton on Sunday has been cited with vehicular homicide while operating under the influence.

One person died after a car hit a tree in Norton, according to the Norton Police Department.

Around 4 p.m. on Sunday, a car crashed into a tree off the right side of the roadway on Oak Street.

The driver and the passenger were taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries. The third passenger died at the scene.

Witnesses reported that the car was traveling north on Oak Street at a high rate of speed before the crash, according to Lt. Todd Jackson.

The investigation into the fatal crash remains active and ongoing.
