SEEKONK, Mass. (WLNE) — The Seekonk Fire Department had to evacuate a hotel on Highland Avenue after a fire broke out outside the vacant Rebeco Bar and Grill next door.

Captain Adam Dalessio said a call came in around 5 p.m. for the fire at the restaurant, which has been empty since 2019.

He said the fire got close enough to the adjacent Quality Inn that it had to be evacuated.

“That was just to be extra cautious, because of the life hazard here at the hotel,” Dalessio said. “Some of the vinyl siding did start to melt. We were concerned about the possible exposure so we did clear them out, until we could clear the building of fire.”

He added that there were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
