Memorial to South Kingstown teen vandalized

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) – Police are looking for those responsible for vandalizing a memorial dedicated to a South Kingstown teen who passed away in 2014. This is the third time the memorial has been the target of vandals.

South Kingstown Police said Thursday that during the month of November it was discovered that the fountain memorial for Brandon M. Austin located at Fagan Park on Dam Street had been vandalized.

The memorial, along with a community basketball court, was dedicated Brandon’s memory in 2016, two years after he was killed in a ATV accident in South Carolina at the age of 14.

In March, vandals stole a plaque dedicating the basketball court, and in May someone dug up flowers planted by Brandon’s family.

South Kingstown Police are investigating the crime and ask that anyone with information contact Detective Joshua Eidam at 401-783-3321, extension 317.
