Elderly man dies after crash in East Providence
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The East Providence Police Department said an elderly man has died after a single-car crash on Saturday.
According to police, they responded to the area of the Riverside Branch Public Library on Bullocks Point Avenue for a report of a crash at 1:50 p.m.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they said they found a Toyota Rav-4 with front end damage. The driver, only identified at this time as a 78-year-old East Providence man, appeared to have suffered a medical episode just before the crash.
A woman was also in the front passenger seat. She sustained minor injuries.
Both the man and woman were taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment where the man was later pronounced dead.
The crash remains under investigation by East Providence Police.
