Stoughton 18-year-old arrested for allegedly shooting Rhode Island man
STOUGHTON, Mass. (WLNE) — The Stoughton Police Department said that it arrested an 18-year-old after he allegedly shot a Rhode Island man he arranged to meet.
Marc Francois was charged with assault and battery with a firearm, carrying a firearm without and a license, and armed robbery, among several other charges.
The department said that officers were dispatched to the area of Central Street and Greenwood Avenue Saturday for reports of shots fired.
Officers began conducting a search after obtaining the description of a man fleeing the area, and found Francois at a condominium complex where a firearm was also recovered.
The officers also called local hospitals and determined that a man who self-admitted to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro was shot in the area.
The department said an investigation into the incident is ongoing but police believe it was not a random act of violence and that there is no threat of danger to the community.
