Tiverton police collect $2,500 in groceries, gas to donate for Christmas

TIVERTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Tiverton Police Department is sharing its gratitude after officers from the IBPO Local 406 union donated $2,500 in groceries and gas to a local outreach program and local seniors.

According to the department, $2,000 in groceries were donated to the East Bay Community Action Program, as well as $500 in oil to help heat the homes of local senior citizens who may have difficulty doing so.

Additionally, the department thanked George’s Gas among other business for allowing them to place donation boxes with them for their Operation: Blue Santa gift collection.

Many high school juniors and seniors also came out to help organize and deliver the department’s Santa for Seniors gift bags.
