RIDOH Recommends Closing Goddard Park Beach and Easton’s Beach for Swimming

PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) – Due to high bacteria levels, The Rhode Island Department of Health recommends closing Goddard Park Beach and Easton’s Beach for swimming.
RIDOH says they will continue to monitor and regularly review beach water quality throughout the summer, and the status of a beach may change as data becomes available.
The department said the COVID-19 pandemic made the beach season “unique”, and beach experience will be different for visitors than in previous years.
RIDOH strongly urges residents to follow physical distancing guidelines when at the beach, including standing at least six feet apart and wearing face coverings in crowded areas.
However, RIDOH tells residents that face coverings should not be worn while swimming or playing in the water.
