Victim of fatal New Bedford crash ID’d

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office announced that a New Bedford woman died Friday night after a crash on Route 140 south.

Officials said 28-year-old Julia Luiz was driving a Toyota Camry at around 5 p.m. when it became disables in the left lane.

At the time of the crash, Luiz was outside her car in the roadway when a 63-year-old New Bedford man driving a Toyota Rav4 struck Luiz’s car, the DA’s office said.

Moments later, authorites said another Toyota Camry being driven by a 58-year-old man from Rochester also struck Luiz’s disabled vehicle.

No criminal charges have been filed and none of the other drivers were seriously injured in the crash.
