Police ID suspect in stabbing, pursuit that ended with rollover crash
WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — The Woonsocket Police Department identified the suspect who allegedly stabbed a man and led police on a chase that ended with a rollover crash on Friday.
Police said 32-year-old Jabriel Goodwin, of Mesa, Arizona, is facing the following charges following the incident:
- Felony assault
- Weapons other than a firearm (knife)
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Obstruction of a police officer in the line of duty
- Disorderly conduct
- Eluding law enforcement in a high-speed pursuit
Police Chief Thomas Oates told ABC 6 News that police responded to the Ocean State Job Lot parking lot around 2:45 p.m. for reports of a stabbing.

The victim of the stabbing, a 25-year-old man from Mansfield, Mass., suffered stab wounds to his arm and leg. He was treated and released from Rhode Island Hospital.
Police then saw the suspect’s vehicle driving erratically in the parking lot, which led to a police chase through Woonsocket and North Smithfield. Chief Oates said that at one point the suspect struck a police cruiser.
The pursuit ended when the suspect reportedly did not stop at a stop sign at Providence Street at Ballou Street, and a car with two females in it hit the suspect’s car.

Those two victims were treated and released from Hasbro Hospital with only one of them sustaining minor injuries.
