Special Olympics Rhode Island holds 48th annual Penguin Plunge
NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WLNE) — Narragansett marked New Year’s Day with the annual Special Olympics Rhode Island’s Penguin Plunge.
The plunge was held at Roger Wheeler State Beach. The main plunge was at noon followed by a family-friendly plunge at 12:30 p.m.

Proceeds will go toward programs and services at Special Olympics Rhode Island.
Over 600 participants were expected.
The organization surpassed its goal of raising $100,000.
