FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WLNE) — Tom Brady shared on Instagram that he nearly came out of retirement — again — in 2023.

The former New England Patriots quarterback made a post reflecting on this past year, saying he’s finding joy in the little things in life.

“PS: The only downside to 2023 was when I was about to unretire in May and my friends threw a surprise retirement party. Kind of forced my hand,” Brady said in the post.

Brady said he’s excited for the future and spending more quality time with family.

“As you get older, you realize that this is really the only thing that matters, and I’ll never take these people for granted,” he said. “Hug your kids, call your parents, tell your friends that you love them, and let’s all help make 2024 a kinder and happier year for everyone in our lives.”

Brady joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in early 2020.

He announced his retirement from the NFL on Feb. 1, 2022. His initial retirement lasted 40 days.

He then retired again on Feb. 1, 2023.

Brady will be inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame in June.
