New Year’s Day Powerball Jackpot among largest ever

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) – Feeling lucky on New Year’s Day? A new year could mean a new $810 million winner of the latest Powerball Jackpot.

Monday night’s jackpot had a cash value of $408.9 million, making the fifth largest ever.

The largest jackpot in the game’s history was $2.04 billion, which was won on November 7, 2022.

Nicole Mineau of The Rhode Island Lottery represented Rhode Island’s “Powerball First Millionaire of the Year” finalist, Finton Wallace, on ABC’s live broadcast of ‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.’

Pamela Bradshaw of North Carolina won the $1 million jackpot in a drawing just after midnight.

Rhode Island recently had a $30,000 winner in its own jackpot game, Wild Money, after a ticket from the December 29 drawing was purchased from Colbea Enterprises in West Greenwich.
