Two Providence men face drug distribution, firearms charges

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Two Providence men face a host of charges related to alleged illegal firearms and drug distribution.

According to Attorney General Peter F. Neronha, Juan Cintron, 34, and Matthew Torres, 25, have been charged with the following:

-One count of possession of one ounce to one kilogram of fentanyl.
-One count of possession of one ounce to one kilogram of cocaine.
-One count of possession with intent to deliver fentanyl.
-One count of possession with intent to deliver cocaine.
-One count of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine.
-One count of possession with intent to deliver xylazine.
-One count of conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver controlled substances.
-Two counts of possession of a firearm while possessing with intent to deliver controlled substances.
-Two counts of possession of a firearm after a previous conviction of a crime of violence.

The case stems from a Rhode Island State Police High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Task Force investigation into suspected fentanyl distribution by Cintron and Torres.

The defendants will appear in Providence County Superior Court on February 2 for a pre-arraignment conference.
