PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Hundreds of protestors gathered outside of the Rhode Island State House on Saturday to protest the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

The event was organized by the Islamic Center of Rhode Island, which called for Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse to “condemn Israel’s military aggression and call for a ceasefire.”

“The death toll, when estimating for those still under the rubble, has easily surpassed 30,000 civilians, including over 10,000 children, yet the Biden administration, U.S. Senators, and others who are able to exert effective influence have, with no notable exception, abetted the murderous campaign in word and deed or else stood in cowardly silence,” the center said in a statement ahead of the rally.

South Africa launched a case last week accusing Israel of genocide in its military campaign in Gaza.

This is the latest in a series of protests against the conflict, including one in which over 40 Brown University students were arrested.
