Bristol Fourth of July Committee issue guidelines ahead of toned down celebration

BRISTOL, R.I. (WLNE)– The Bristol Fourth of July Committee have issued guidelines to residents and visitors ahead of what promises to be a very different parade this year.

Residents and guests are reminded that on-street parking along the parade route is banned beginning at 5 a.m. Confusion has circulated on social media regarding parking, and the committee has asked residents to help spread the word.

Additionally, some other unique guidelines well set this year apart:

  • The drive-by motorcade will follow the traditional parade route, and last approximately a half-hour
  • There will be no port-a-potties provided this year
  • Overnight camping is strictly prohibited
  • Areas along the parade route can not be roped off for any reason

Residents and visitors are encouraged to follow health guidance from the Rhode Island Department of Health, including maintaining 6 feet of distance from those outside of their immediate household, and wearing a mask when in close contact with others. Frequent hand-washing with hot water and soap is recommended, and using hand-sanitizer when hand-washing is not an option is also encouraged.
