CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) – State Police confirmed Sunday night that a stolen Chevy Malibu was involved in an overnight crash that killed a Providence man and sent two people to the hospital.

According to State Police the crash occurred around 4:10 a.m. Sunday on Route 10 when a driver, identified as Miguel Revolorio, 28, of Providence, lost control of his vehicle, which went off the road and rolled over several times before crossing an on-ramp and striking several trees

Revolorio was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two passengers were also injured in the crash.

Victoria Bautista, 19, of Central Falls, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. State Police said she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Jonathan Ortiz, 23, of Central Falls, suffered non-life threatening injuries as well.

Corporal Franklin Navarro said that speed was a factor in the crash that led Revolorio to lose control of the stolen car.

“Four in the morning, very little traffic on the highway, someone loses track of what speed they’re going, you can see what happens,” Navarro said.

Bautista and Ortiz were transported to Rhode Island Hospital where they are being treated for their injuries.

Although the car was stolen, State Police are stressing the importance of wearing seatbelts, especially with more traffic coming for the holidays.

“People have a good time. You need to make sure you are being conscious of what you’re doing, where you’re going, who you’re with [and] that you’re buckling up,” he said. “Seatbelts save lives. They do. This is a prime example.”

No word if Bautista or Ortiz will face charges for the stolen vehicle.

The crash is still under investigation.
