Protest at State House demanding completion of Russia Probe

After Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced his resignation this week at the request of President Trump, it didn’t take long for protesters across the country to question the successor, fearing the Russia investigation may be in jeopardy.
Mr. Trump appointed Matthew Whitaker as Acting Attorney General. Whitaker is choice that many feel will help shut down Robert Mueller’s probe.
On Thursday, protesters in cities across the country were demanding that Whitaker recuse himself from the investigation just like Sessions did.
In Providence, hundreds took to the State House to protest what they’re calling a ‘constitutional crisis.’
“We are witnessing the unfolding of an obstruction of justice case,” said Director of Indivisible RI, Shawna Rihani. “[President Trump] has identified that he can remove people who are not loyal to him. And unfortunately now he has pivoted into replacing those people with loyalists.”
Rihani along with thousands across the country are demanding that the investigation will remain independent, and that the probe into Russian election meddling will be completed.
They also want lawmakers to pass legislation protecting Mueller.
