Update: victim in New Bedford shooting identified, police investigating
NEW BEDFORD, MASS (WLNE) – Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III identified the victim of a shooting early this morning at 17 Margin St, New Bedford as 25 year old Keven Rocha of New Bedford.
New Bedford police and Massachusetts State Police are actively investigating a fatal shooting that happened early Friday morning.
According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s office, police responded to Margin Street between 4:00 AM and 5:00 AM.
Crime tape was used to block off parts of the street.
Police were seen searching the area, digging through trash and speaking to neighbors.
The department identified the victim as a man who suffered multiple gunshot wounds inside a multi-family home.
The medical examiner will take custody of the body for an autopsy.
While the circumstances of the shooting are not clear, neighbors told ABC6 that there has been gang activity in recent weeks in that area.
