PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — After three days at the Convention Center and Dunkin Donuts Center, Rhode Island Comic Con wrapped up Sunday.

Thousands attended the annual event, many driving hours to dress as their favorite character and meet the celebrities.

From Moon Night, to Where’s Waldo, to the Bride of Pennywise, comic fans put on their best cosplay for the last day.

“It doesn’t matter what you look like, who you are, everybody loves it.”

Laura Jean Scribner from North Attleboro transformed herself into Rita Repulsa from the original Power Rangers using just duct tape, glue, and nail polish.

“It feels good to know that you worked so hard on something, and even though you might not feel it’s your best, everyone else loves it,” said Scribner.

Some spent months on their costumes, like Seneca Brown from South Kingstown. He started building his Mega Man suit in August.

“I’ve been really popular here. People love my cosplay. It’s making me really happy even though it’s hard to walk in,” said Brown.

What makes people come back year after year is more than just the costumes, it’s the sense of belonging.

“No one judges you here. We’re all nerds.”

Chelsea Vogul and her mom traveled nearly two hours from Milford, Connecticut, and say it’s worth every mile.

“You just feel like you’re apart of something and it’s a really good feeling. There’s no judgment when you come in here. You can be as weird as you want to be,” said Vogul.

While official numbers have not yet been released, RI Comic Con was expected to bring in over 90,000 people over the weekend.
