Providence nightclub temporarily closed after shots fired

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A Providence nightclub on Chestnut Street, Art Bar, is temporarily closed after shots were fired at the venue early Saturday morning.
At an emergency meeting called Saturday morning, the Providence Board of Licensing voted to temporarily close the Art Bar after shots were fired overnight.
The nightclub will remain closed pending the results of a full hearing scheduled for Monday, November 5.
Police received reports of shots fired at the club around 2 a.m. Saturday.
Police say initial reports indicate that a patron shot a couple times into the ceiling before leaving the premises in a motor vehicle.
The suspect remains at large. No injuries have been reported.
The incident is currently under investigation by both the Detectives Bureau and the Licensing Bureau of Providence.
