WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Mothers Against Drunk Driving Rhode Island alongside Youth Driven and the Tori Lynn Andreozzi Foundation to kick off their Safer Rhodes in 2024 campaign.

The event at the West Warwick Youth center featured youth speakers that were victims of impaired driving.

The organizations said the initiative comes after preliminary data showed 2023 had the highest number of roadway fatalities in six years, with an increase of 30 fatalities over 2022.

“At Mothers Against Drunk Driving, we’re focused on one goal: ending impaired driving for good,” MADD Victim Advocate Jennifer O’Neil said. “No other Rhode Island family should suffer from the 100% preventable choice of impaired driving.”
