Memorial service planned for K9 killed in line of duty

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WLNE) — A memorial service will be held Jan. 16 for a Connecticut K9 who died in the line of duty in December.
The Connecticut state police will hold the service for Broko, who was shot and killed on Dec. 21, 2023 after an officer-involved shooting in Stonington, Conn.
Troopers served an active felony arrest warrant and a search warrant in a separate investigation.
In the course of the serving of the warrant, there were serious injuries in the shooting and Broko died from his own injuries.
“K-9 Broko courageously gave his life protecting his handler, fellow troopers, and our community,” police said.
The service will not be open to the public or to media.
